California Warehouse President Receives IWLA Distinguished Service Award
The International Warehouse Logistics Association recently presented its 2013 Distinguished Service and Leadership Award to Jere Van Puffelen, CLP, president of PRISM Team Services, Inc., in Danville, Calif.
The Distinguished Service and Leadership Award recognizes outstanding leadership and service to IWLA and to the warehouse-based third-party logistics industry. IWLA members nominated candidates for the 2013 award. The association leaders selected Van Puffelen based on his contributions and service to the industry, as well as his integrity and leadership.
“I cannot imagine a more deserving candidate – nobody has invested more time, energy, and passion into the warehouse-based 3PL industry and this association than Jere,” said Former IWLA Chairman Arthur Barrett, president of Barrett Distribution Centers, based in Massachusetts.
In addition to his role as a member on the IWLA Board of Directors, Van Puffelen is a well-known mentor, adviser and contributor to the industry’s leading professional development and networking organizations, as well as a respected San Francisco Bay-area business leader.
Van Puffelen’s IWLA involvement began in the mid 1970s when the association was still the American Warehouse Association. Van Puffelen served on three convention planning committees and is a member of the IWLA-Political Action Committee. He served on the IWLA Board of Directors for four years, the executive committee for four years and was 2009-2010 chairman. In addition, Van Puffelen is a Certified Logistics Professional, the designation for warehousing practitioners who meet standards for education and service.
“Even though Jere is now a couple years gone by as Past Chairman, his enthusiasm and commitment to our warehouse industry has not waned,” said 2013 IWLA Convention & Expo Chairman Paul Verst, president of Verst Logistics Group, based in Kentucky. Verst presented Van Puffelen with the award March 12 during the IWLA Convention & Expo in Orlando.
