Interstate Warehousing, Inc. just announced some very exciting news, both for their company and for the city of Anderson, Indiana. Interstate Warehousing is going to be opening a new cold storage warehouse facility in Anderson and will begin the process of building it in December. The facility is going to include a 250,000-square-foot warehouse, scheduled to be built by Tippmann Construction. The 76-acre site where the warehouse will be built will also allow for expansion in the future, and the facility could eventually grow to be more than 1,000,000 square feet in the coming years.
In addition to the warehouse in Anderson, Interstate Warehousing, which is a Tippmann Group company, also has two other cold storage facilities near Indianapolis as well as corporate offices located in Fort Wayne. In total, the company has more than 100 million cubic square feet of temperature controlled warehouse space located throughout different parts of the country, and they are undoubtedly a leader in the industry. They are actually the sixth-largest cold storage company in the entire U.S. and are expected to grow even more in the future.
Interstate Warehousing’s expansion into Anderson is a big deal because it’s going to open up a lot of new jobs. Once the main facility is finished towards the end of 2018, about 60 local people will be brought on to work in it. Interstate Warehousing has also made an initial investment of $30 million, and while Anderson has provided the company with a 7-year, 60 percent tax abatement as an incentive, the company will help the local economy tremendously in the next few decades.
Interstate also has freezer/cooler public and contract warehouses in Chicago, Nashville, Norfolk, Cincinnati and Denver
