Some selected encouraging statistics this month:
- U.S.wineries set a record for imports last year with $1.43 billion in revenues, up 2.6% year-over-year. The volume of wine shipments reached 424.6 million liters or 47.2 million cases. (Source: Wine Institute)
- The American craft beer industry set a new record for exports in 2012. The craft beer export volume increased by 72% compared to 2011, with an estimated value of $49.1 million. Canada remained the industry’s largest export market, with shipments increasing 140% by volume in 2012.

Or on a more traditional front:
- Intermodal rail traffic in February 2013 was 10.5% higher than in February 2012 and 3% higher than January 2013 totals. Intermodal loadings have experienced year-over-year gains for 39 straight months.
- The trucking industry added 5,600 jobs in February. The trucking workforce increased 0.4% over the previous month and rose 3.2% over the previous year. (Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics)
- The unemployment rate in Americadecreased to 7.7% in February 2013 as there were 236,000 net new jobs. (Source: US DOL)
- The Consumer Confidence Index increased to 69.6 in February 2013, up from 58.4 in January 2013.
