Year-over-year, spot market loads were up 16 percent for August compared with August 2012.
National average rates held steady for the week of August 25-31 as rates rose in a handful of key markets due to increased demand for all trailer types, reports DAT Trendlines.
For the month of August, vans added 1 cent due to an increase in the fuel surcharge, while flatbeds lost 3 cents and reefers dropped 5 cents compared to July.
Spot market loads were up 7.6 percent compared to the week prior, while reefer load to truck rates were up 13 percent.
Flatbed load to truck were up 8.6 percent but fuel prices also increased, up 1.7 percent over the week before.
